Discovery 4 3.0 Timing Belt Change Service

What is a Timing Belt?

The timing belt or cam belt is a part of your car’s engine, it loops around various shafts on the vehicle known as the crankshaft and camshaft(s), this is so that the engine’s valves open and close at the correct time.

The belt is madeof a synthetic rubber, it has a number of teeth on the inside of the belt which allows the belt to grip

When should my Timing Belt be replaced?

Timing belt changes are a vital part of vehicle maintenance. The replacement interval for the Discovery 4 3.0 is 112,000mls or 7 years. Failure of the Timing Belt can cause severe engine damage and a costly repair, this can include a full replacement engine

What can happen if not fitted?

If the timing belt was to break suddenly, the pistons and the valves would collide which could cause a lot of internal damage to your vehicle.

This is why it is extremely important to monitor the condition of your car’s timing belt and to make sure that you change it before it breaks

What parts are fitted?
